This easy air fryer roasted beets recipe ensures you get tender and sweet beets right from your air fryer. As I mentioned, they’re great for a side dish to just about any main dish, perfect for holidays or weeknight dinners. They can even be used in a variety of ways, from salad toppings, soups to snacks. Air-fried beets even be added to another dish as I did in this quinoa beets butternut squash bowl. This recipe takes the chore out of roasting beets for an effortless way to add more nutrition to your meals.

How to Make Air Roasted Beets (Step-by-Step)
Here’s how to air fry beets and make them more of a staple on your dinner table!
- Prep the Beets
Your first step is to wash, peel, and cut the beetroot. Keep your chunks of beets around the same size for even cooking.
- Season the cut Beets
Add your cut beets to a bowl and then combine them with the other ingredients. Feel free to give them a taste and make any adjustments on the seasonings.
- Air fry the Beets
Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper, then add in the seasoned beets, spreading them around in an even layer. Turn the air fryer to the “bake” setting and set the temperature to 300F. Cook for 30 minutes, flipping halfway through the cooking time.
- Serve and Enjoy
Your beets are ready when they’re fork tender and nicely crisp outside. You can eat them as-is which I highly recommend, or use them in a variety of ways which I’ll detail further below.
How to Use Roasted Beets
The possibilities are absolutely endless for using roasted beets. When I’m not just snacking on them (yes, they make the perfect snack!), I love to throw roasted beets into salads or top my quinoa bowls with them!
You can dice them up and make a slaw, stick them in quesadillas, or add them as a topping for tacos. The sky is the limit with the ways you can use your roasted beets!

Notes/Tips for Air Frying Beets
- The cooking time may differ if you cut beets in bigger chunks.
- Try not to slice them too thin either. They shrink a bit while baking in the air fryer and may dry up.
- Don’t forget to turn them after they’ve been cooking for 15 minutes.
- Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket with beets. If you plan on roasting a lot of them, you’ll have to do it in batches.
- Add salt and pepper to preference

Yes, you can cook beetroot in the air fryer, and if you’ve always lamented about roasting them in the oven because they take so long there, this is the cooking method for you! Beets comes out amazing when cooked in the air fryer and with so much less hassle too.
I use parchment paper in my air fryer beets recipe, but you can use foil if that’s what you have on hand.
You could, though it will take longer to do. It will also be harder to remove the skin after you air fry them.
Both ways to eat beets are nutritious though roasting helps bring out the natural sugars of this root veggie, making them naturally more delicious.
Raw beets will retain more vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals than cooked beets, but most people will prefer the taste of roasted beets. That said, you’re still getting loads of health benefits by eating roasted beets.
Variations/Substitutions
- Use a few different kinds of beets if you can find them.
- Change up the spices to match your main dish. You can use cumin and paprika, or even allspice and cinnamon.
- Dried fresh herbs like thyme, tarragon, and dill also work really well with beets and can help you create other flavor profiles.
