How to Air Fry Lamb Chops (Step-by-Step):
Now let me walk you through how to make these succulent air fryer lamb chops!
- Wash
The first step is washing your lamb chops. You’ll want to completely pat them dry with paper towels. I used frozen lamb chops, which will work just as well. However, you need to give them time to thaw out and come to room temperature first, so plan ahead!
- Marinate
Next, put your lamb chops in a big bowl. Pour the seasoning and marinade on and mix with your hands to cover the lamb chops well. I like using cooking gloves for this step to keep from getting messy. Once the lamb chops are completely well-coated, cover the bowl and let them marinate. I recommend at least 30 minutes though I always go for about an hour. You can also let them marinate overnight.
- Preheat
When you’re ready to get cooking, set your air fryer timer to 12 minutes and the temperature to 400F, then preheat.
- Air Fry Marinated Lamb Chops
Place cilantro lime marinated lamb chops in the preheated air fryer; air fry for 6 minutes and flip. Then air fry for 4 minutes. If not done, continue to cook to the set time.
- Check for Doneness
Lamb chops can be cooked to a variety of levels of doneness. For me personally, I like them well done. A meat thermometer is essential here to help you ensure you’ve cooked them properly. If you like them rare, it should read 120°F; medium rare at 125°F; medium at 130°F; and well done at 145°F and higher. Allow them to cool for at least 5 minutes before serving.
How to Store Air Fryer Lamb Chops Leftover
These are so good you might not have any leftovers. But if you do, put them in an airtight container, and they’ll keep in your fridge for up to 5 days. You can also freeze them for a wonderful meal any time. Make sure you use them up within 3 months, though, if you do.
Recipes Notes/Tips
- I bought my organic lamb chops frozen from our local farmer. They’re a little smaller than regular lamb chops, so do keep in mind the size of yours as you cook them. Bigger lamb chops will affect the cooking time slightly.
- These easy marinated lamb chops are amazing for weeknights because they are so quick and simple to make.
- But they’re also fantastic for the main dish of a holiday dinner. Think Thanksgiving, Christmas, or even Easter.
- I like serving these on the weekends to make things extra special, even though they’re easy enough to do any day of the week.
Air Fryer Lamb Chops FAQs
If you have any questions about air frying lamb chops, these answers should steer you in the right direction!
Oh yes, you can! And I recommend this method wholeheartedly. You get an excellent exterior that’s a little crispy while the interior lends juicy, flavorful meat. And it cooks so quickly too.
I typically like to marinate for an hour. If you’re pressed for time, you can marinate for at least 30 minutes. And if you like planning, you can even marinate these overnight, but I wouldn’t go longer than 24 hours.
For perfectly cooked air fryer lamb chops, you should set the temperature to 400F. If you choose to do it in your oven, this would also be the temperature I’d recommend.
You need a meat thermometer to know for sure. At a minimum, it should read 120F if you like them rare. Well done, would read at 145F, though you don’t want to go much over that, or you’ll wind up with dry lamb chops.
Variations/Substitutions
- Not a fan of lamb chops or can’t find them? You can use this same recipe to make pork chops, fish or chicken.

- You can also swap the marinade or seasoning for something else if you don’t have all the ingredients on-hand to make my cilantro lime marinade.

- And if you want deeper flavors, let your lamb chops marinate overnight.
