A simple place to start is with easy, balanced dinners like salmon with rice and vegetables, chicken with roasted sweet potatoes, or one-pan and air fryer meals that fit into your routine. I have an Air Fryer category here if you need some ideas. TBH, you can air fry most things that you typically cook in the oven.

This is where things really start to change. Instead of asking, “Is this helping me lose weight?” Try asking, “Will this help me feel steady and energized?”

When your energy feels more stable, a lot of things start to get easier. You’re less likely to have strong cravings, it becomes easier to stay consistent with your meals, and over time, your weight can begin to balance out.

When you’re trying to support your metabolism, it’s just as important to know what to avoid. That includes extreme dieting, cutting out entire food groups, over-restricting calories, and constantly starting over every time something doesn’t go perfectly. These approaches may seem helpful in the moment, but they often do the opposite. They can slow your metabolism further, increase stress on your body, and make it much harder to stay consistent over time.

A Simple Way to Get Started

Start with one small shift—whether that’s a habit change, a meal change, or a movement change.

That could look like something as simple as eating a more balanced breakfast, such as overnight oats or chai overnight pudding. Another easy step is adding protein to one of your meals.

One of my personal non-negotiables is planning dinners ahead for the week. This way, during busy workdays, I’m not worrying about what to cook—I already have something nourishing ready to go.
