Oh, kay, healthy foodie lover, how are you doing this beautiful day? It’s a fruit on the menu kind of day, and I am falling heads over heels with grapefruit! The grapefruit is a subtropical citrus fruit that is largely known for its sweet and bitter taste. Not sure if “sour taste” perfectly describes how this fruit tastes. Grapefruit juice is juice from grapefruit (well, obviously); this juice is rich in antioxidants, healthy nutrients, and minerals. The inside of the grapefruit is segmented just like other citrus fruits. Please permit me to quickly show you how to make the best homemade grapefruit juice that you will actually love!

How to make Homemade Grapefruit Juice.
Making this juice is very easy. First, wash the grapefruit and ginger. Second, peel the grapefruit using your hand or use a knife, as I did in the video. Please be safe. Finally, juice the grapefruit and ginger using a juicer.
Chill the juice by adding some ice, drink with loved ones who aren’t on any medications. See the video below to know how easy it is to make homemade grapefruit juice! Please note that you can also make grapefruit without the juicer. You can use a hand-held citrus juicer instead.
Benefits of Drinking Homemade Grapefruit Juice
Grapefruit has several benefits, do not be discouraged by the bitter after taste; the truth is you rarely notice the bitterness when you juice it! Some benefits of drinking homemade grapefruit juice include:
- Heart-healthy: Consumption of Grapefruit may help reduce the risk of heart disease and other related cardiovascular diseases.
- Insulin resistance: Grapefruit is said to help prevent insulin resistance.
- Antioxidants: Grapefruits have potent antioxidants that may help protect our cells from free radicals.
- Grapefruit is “weight loss friendly food.” Grapefruit juice for weight loss is a real possibility, but you have to use this fruit alongside other measures like healthier meal options, physical activities, portion control, etc. There is a popular trend called the grapefruit diet; if you intend to go that route, don’t forget to do your homework, and also listen to your body!

Why make Grapefruit juice at home?
Homemade grapefruit juice is the best way to consume grapefruit juice (in my opinion). This is because homemade grapefruit juice has no added sugars, artificial preservatives, or additives. Always best to make your foods yourself! 🤷🏾♀️ Am I tripping?
What about Grapefruit Seed Extracts?
Hmmmmm….. Grapefruit seed extracts said to have potent antimicrobials have several benefits (according to science), such as may help reduce the risk of heart disease and urinary tract infections. The bottom line is that grapefruit seed extract is an outstanding natural supplement, but unlike popular opinion, it doesn’t cure everything!
Some Grapefruit Juice Precautions:
Sadly, grapefruit or grapefruit juice can alter the performance of medications in the body, so it is crucial to keep that in mind. When you eat grapefruit or drink its juice, its effect on medicine can last for the next three days.
When is Homemade Grapefruit Juice Bad for You?
Whether made at home or purchased at the store, Grapefruit juice can be bad for you if you are taking cholesterol medications. Remember, grapefruit can alter the effect of any medicine, even the common over the counter medications.
Who Should not Eat Grapefruit?
Stay away from grapefruit if you are currently on any regular medication! Also, keep yourself informed about the pros and cons of grapefruit and all the foods you eat.
