How Do You Keep Ground Chicken Patties from Falling Apart?
I use egg to bind the ingredients together, though the secret to ensuring they don’t fall apart is not flipping them halfway through the cook time as they can break.
Ingredients for Air Fryer Chicken Patties
- Ground chicken
- Onions
- Garlic
- Bell peppers
- Habanero
- Egg
- Spring onions
- Knorr bouillon
- Salt
- Black pepper (to taste)
- Avocado oil spray or olive oil spray
- Olive oil for sauteing the veggies

How to Make Chicken Patties from Scratch in the Air Fryer (Step-by-Step):
Ready to lighten up your burger without sacrificing flavors? Here’s how to make these tasty chicken patties!
- Gather Your Ingredients
Instead of scrambling around your kitchen, round everything up in one place before starting.
- Prep the Veggies
Wash and cut the vegetables (bell peppers, habanero, onions, spring onions, and garlic), then set aside.
- Sauté the Veggies
Using 1 tablespoon of olive oil, sauté the vegetables (except for the spring onions) with a dash of salt and pepper. Season with Knorr or Cajun seasoning if needed and set aside. Make sure to allow the vegetables to cool properly before the next step.
- Make Your Chicken Patties
Place the raw ground chicken into a big bowl. Then add the cooled vegetables, spring onions, egg, salt, black pepper, and Knorr. Combine using clean hands, then gently form the mixture into patties. I used a ¼ cup to measure the patties to ensure equal patties and even cooking.
- Air Fry the Chicken Patties
Gently place the patties in your preheated air fryer and spray them with oil spray. Air fryer for 10 to 15 minutes at 375°F until fully cooked. Use a meat thermometer to ensure that your chicken burgers are cooked thoroughly.
- Serve and Enjoy!
Now you can serve your fully cooked chicken patties, aka chicken burgers, on buns, bowls, or any other way!

How to Store Chicken Patties Leftovers

- Go ahead and experiment with other seasonings like Cajun or even giving these an Asian twist.
- If serving for Memorial Day, 4th of July or another gathering, prep your toppings and have fun with them – sliced avocado, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions…go for it!
- You can sub the habanero with jalapeno if desired, or leave it out and keep things mild by using the bell peppers.

FAQs: Air Fryer Chicken Patties (Chicken Burgers)
Absolutely! Raw chicken burgers cook quickly and evenly in the air fryer. It’s safe to cook them this way, just as it is with any other meat. However, you should grab your meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature is at 165°F and totally cooked.
10 to 15 minutes should do it, though always check with your meat thermometer to make sure they’re completely cooked through.
Yes, just make sure that you have fully cooked it by checking the internal temperature.
These should be ready in about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of your patties. And until fully cooked.
I prefer to cook them at 375°F; it helps to give them a beautiful tan color. Remember, ground chicken is considered fully cooked and safe to eat when the internal temperature registers at 165°F.
I used Knorr/Maggi alongside salt, pepper, garlic, onions, peppers, and spring onions, all of which helped pack so much flavor into this dish. However, you can feel free to use your favorite spice blends or seasonings.

Here is the brand of Air Fryer that I use: Instant Vortex Plus.
Sometimes, the brand or type of air fryer you use may affect the heat/temperature. If you think your air fryer may not be hot enough at 375°F, please increase it to 400°F. Also, keep an eye on your food; that way, you will know when to increase or decrease the temperature.
