These air fryer chicken patties are currently my healthy meal prep obsession! Choose this healthy chicken burger recipe, and you won’t be sorry! My kids love them like regular burgers with buns, though you can wrap them in lettuce, put them on a salad, or use them in bowls. They’re so good, they tend to be a part of my weekly meal prep. There are so many ways you can use these chicken patties, even as a breakfast sandwich with English muffins! Alongside my air fryer meatballs and AF popcorn chicken (from scratch), these chicken patties understood the assignment. Flavorful, easy, tasty, and meal-prep friendly. Also, these are low-carb and keto-friendly. Talk about a win-win situation!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds of ground chicken
  • 1 bulb of onions
  • ½ big bell peppers
  • 1 habanero
  • 1 fresh egg
  • ¼ cup of spring onions
  • ½ – 1 TSP Olive oil (for sautéing the veggies)
  • Avocado oil spray or olive oil spray; (optional); you can sub with 1 TBS EVOO
  • 1 teaspoon Knorr Bouillon (divide; and use one part to season the vegetables)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (divide; and use one part to season the vegetables)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper or add according to your taste Gather Your Ingredients. Instead of scrambling around your kitchen, round everything up in one place before starting.

Instructions

  1. Gather Your Ingredients. Instead of scrambling around your kitchen, round everything up in one place before starting.
  2. Prep the Veggies. Wash and cut the vegetables (bell peppers, habanero, onions, spring onions, and garlic), then set aside.
  3. Sauté the Veggies. Using 1 tablespoon of olive oil, sauté the vegetables (except for the spring onions) with a dash of salt and pepper. Season with Knorr or Cajun seasoning if needed and set aside. Make sure to allow the vegetables to cool properly before the next step. 4. Make Your Chicken Patties. Place the raw ground chicken into a big bowl. Then add the cooled vegetables, spring onions, egg, salt, black pepper, and Knorr. Combine using clean hands, then gently form the mixture into patties. I used a ¼ cup to measure the patties to ensure equal patties and even cooking. 5. Preheat the Air fryer. Set the temperature to 375°F and the time to 15 minutes, then preheat. Don’t worry if your air fryer has no “preheat” setting. Simply turn it on for 5 minutes before adding your food.
  6. Air Fry the Chicken Patties. Gently place the patties in your preheated air fryer and spray avocado oil spray or olive oil spray on  each of them. Air fry for 10 to 15 minutes at 375°F or until fully cooked. Use a meat thermometer to ensure that your chicken burgers are cooked thoroughly. Notes

Make sure to allow the sautéed vegetables to cool before mixing with the ground chicken. Do not over-mix the ground chicken and vegetable mixture.

Keep the patties a consistent size for even cooking. I like to measure with a ¼ cup measure.

The oil spray is optional but highly recommended; it surely gives these patties a shiny glow! If you do not have an oil spray, you may sprinkle a bit of olive oil—perhaps up to 1 tablespoon for this quantity.

Use a meat thermometer to ensure your chicken is fully cooked to 165°F ensures that it’s safe to eat. The meat should no longer be pink.

You can simply double-batch this recipe when meal prepping for guaranteed tasty meals when you need them. They’re great to throw into bowls or on top of rice for lunch at the office.

Don’t flip them halfway through the cooking time, or they will fall apart.

Here is the brand of Air Fryer that I use: Instant Vortex Plus.

Sometimes, the brand or type of air fryer you use may affect the heat/temperature. If you think your air fryer may not be hot enough at 375°F, please increase it to 400°F. Also, keep an eye on your food; that way, you will know when to increase or decrease the temperature.
