How to Make Air Fryer Butternut Squash Biscuits (Step-by-Step)
Make these air fryer butternut squash biscuits with your dinner tonight by following these simple steps!
- Prep the Squash
Boil your fresh butternut squash until it’s fork tender, then mash it up and measure so you have one and a half cups. Make sure it comes to room temperature first before continuing with the next steps.
- Combine the Ingredients
In one bowl, you’ll combine the dry ingredients – flour, sweetener, and salt. In another bowl, combine the wet ingredients – butternut squash puree and heavy cream.
- Mix Together
Now you’ll mix the wet and dry ingredients together until they form a dough. You’ll flour a clean surface upon which you’ll roll out the dough.
- Cut Biscuits
Grab your biscuit cutter and cut out your biscuits from the dough.
- Air fry the Butternut Squash Biscuits
To air fry your biscuits, use the bake setting of the air fryer. Set the air temperature to 300F and set the time to 15 minutes. Grease or oil the air fryer before placing the biscuits. Then, place the biscuits without over-crowding them. (no need to preheat the air fryer).
- Cook and Enjoy!
Bake 10 – 15 minutes for each batch or until it is cooked. The cooking time will likely depend on the size of the biscuits. If your biscuits aren’t cooked after 15 minutes, add additional time. Spread or drizzle a little melted butter on the biscuits after baking. Pumpkin butter is also delicious on these!
- No Air Fryer? Bake in the Oven!
You can bake this in the oven at 400F for 10-15 minutes; just know that the air fryer ones look way better and fluffier.
Notes/Tips for Making Biscuits in the Air Fryer
- Ensure that the butternut puree is at room temperature before using.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket with the biscuits for the best results.
- If you don’t have self-rising flour, you can make it by taking a cup of all-purpose flour and adding 1 ½ teaspoons of baking powder along with a ¼ teaspoon of salt to make one cup of self-rising flour. Even though I suggest self-rising flour.
- If your biscuits aren’t cooked after 15 minutes, add additional time.
- You can bake these biscuits in the oven if no air fryer.
- Feel free to reduce the recipe; this a big batch.
- This is my air fryer!
What Pairs Well with Butternut Squash Biscuits?
These biscuits are great with soups, especially these recipes:
How to Store Leftovers
Countertop: These butternut squash biscuits are really best when they are fresh, though if you can’t eat them all, you can seal them in an airtight container. Keep them on your countertop for up to 3 days and warm them up before enjoying again.
Freezer: Another vital way I store most of my leftover butternut squash biscuits is in the freezer. These air-fried biscuits keep well in the freezer. I typically place them in freezer-friendly ziplock bags and then in my freezer. Ensure your biscuits are completely cooled before moving to the store in the freezer. I don’t recommend keeping these biscuits in the refrigerator.
My preference for storing these is the freezer because it can last up to 90 days in the freezer!
