Tools for Making Freezer Breakfast Sandwiches:

Ingredients for Make-Ahead Freezer Breakfast Sandwiches

English Muffins are a great bun for freezer-friendly breakfast sandwiches. They keep well in the freezer and warm up really well!

Bacon is a great protein to add to this freezer breakfast sandwich; nothing beats salty, crispy, and warm bacon in the morning!

Eggs are high-quality proteins and very cheap too! For instance, they cost far less than salmon. Eggs are a great source of selenium, vitamin D, and other minerals/nutrients. It is perfect for our nourishment and vitality!

Cheese is an excellent source of calcium, fat, and protein. Contrary to popular belief, cheese is generally good for the body. If you are sensitive to dairy, use a dairy-free cheese or vegan cheese.

Butter, I love the creaminess that the butter adds to the egg. You can totally swap this for extra virgin olive oil.

The ingredients for seasoning the eggs include a dash of salt, some onion and garlic powder and a dash of Knorr bouillon powder or Maggi.

HOW TO MAKE FREEZER BREAKFAST SANDWICHES:

  1. Preheat oven to 300
  2. Place bacon in a single layer on the baking rack while the rack sits on the baking sheet. Bake the bacon until fully cooked, about 25 – 35 minutes. Depending on how crispy you want them. Set on a paper to drain excess oil.
  3. Crack open the eggs into a big bowl or a bowl that would fit.
  4. Add the egg seasoning ingredients, mix well.
  5. Place a clean pan on the stove medium-low, add the butter and allow to warm up. Then add the egg mixture.
  6. Cook the egg until set, flip and finish cooking. Do not burn the egg, be sure to keep an eye on it.
  7. Place a paper towel on a chopping board and the cooked egg from the stove and place it there. This way, the paper towel can soak up any excess oil.
  8. Use an egg ring to cut the egg into 6 (or the number of breakfast sandwiches you will be making)
  9. Gently cut the English muffins in the middle, following a soft line. Then toast the English muffins by placing them face down on the same hot pan you had cooked the eggs in. Allow them to heat up for 1 – 2 minutes. This step is optional but necessary (in my opinion).
  10. If using individually prepackaged cheese slices, remember to remove the plastic covering.

How to Assemble the Breakfast Sandwiches:

  • Place the “bottom” of an English muffin on a flat surface or plate
  • Add some of the shredded cheese(s), add one egg round, cut one bacon into half and add both halves on top of the egg. Finally, top with a slice of cheese, and then cover with the top part of the English muffin!
  • Place one eco-friendly sandwich wrapping paper on a stable surface, place the breakfast sandwich you have just made, and wrap it. On the other hand, you can wrap the breakfast sandwiches with heavy-duty aluminum foil if you do not have sandwich wrapping paper. However, remember to remove the foil before reheating in a microwave.
  • Pack up all wrapped breakfast sandwich and store in the freezer for long term storage.

How to Reheat Freezer Breakfast Sandwiches

Reheat from Frozen in the Microwave. This is how we typically reheat these freezer sandwiches. I place the breakfast sandwich on a plate, put it in the middle of the microwave, and reheat it for 2 to 3 minutes. Or until it heats up thoroughly. Note that I didn’t have to unwrap it because I used sandwich wrapping paper. However, be sure to remove the wrapping if you used foil or plastic wrap.

Reheat Thawed Breakfast Sandwiches in the microwave. Alternatively, you can allow the sandwiches to thaw completely before reheating them in the microwave. If you plan to thaw these freezer breakfast sandwiches, remove them from the freezer, and place them in the freeze to thaw. Then reheat in the microwave for 15 – 20 seconds.

How to Reheat on the Grill. The best way to reheat, make-ahead breakfast sandwiches would be on the grill if you are camping. First, wrap them with heavy-duty aluminum foil before thawing. Second, allow these sandwiches to thaw completely. Finally, place them on the grill to heat up.

Variations of Homemade Freezer-friendly Breakfast Sandwiches

  • Use any other meat. Though I used bacon in these freezer breakfast sandwiches, you can substitute it with ham, Canadian bacon, or sausage patties.
  • Use Multigrain English Muffins. Multigrain English muffins are healthy and delicious and work perfectly well for this recipe.
  • Replace the shredded mozzarella cheese with mashed avocado, aka guacamole. Though I only suggest this if you are not going to freeze the Sandwiches. Guacamole tastes better fresh (my personal opinion).
  • Use only egg white if you are scared of using whole eggs due to health concerns.
