AIR FRYER TURKEY SAUSAGES & VEGGIES INGREDIENTS:
Smoked Turkey Sausage:
I used smoked turkey sausage from Butterball. That is usually my go-to for everything turkey. (This post is not sponsored). Butterball have all kinds of turkey products.
Unlike regular breakfast sausages, Turkey sausage is much lower in saturated fats and calories. *Check the recipe card for the exact measurement of the ingredients.*
Potatoes:
I used russet potatoes, which are big, soft, and meaty. Russet potatoes or any brand of potatoes you have would be perfect in this recipe. Yukon Gold potatoes are equally amazing; I use them sometimes. Potatoes have several benefits that make this recipe nutritious. Potatoes are an excellent source of fiber; they can keep you fuller for longer. Contrary to popular opinions, experts say potatoes can help people lose weight.
Asparagus:
I love asparagus; however, it can get a little pricey. Therefore, we enjoy asparagus the most during the asparagus season. Asparagus season is in spring, and I typically pair most of our proteins with asparagus during that time. Check out my air fryer fish and asparagus – the best!!! Though green asparagus is the most popular, this vegetable also comes in purple and white colors too.
Asparagus has tons of antioxidants; they are low in calories, and can improve digestive health.
Green Bell Peppers:
Surprisingly, green bell peppers are fruits and not vegetables. Green bell peppers are unripe bell peppers. They add color and nutrients to this air fryer turkey sausages and potatoes recipe. Peppers and onions are always a must in most air fryer meals. Bell peppers are rich in nutrients, excellent for gut health, and promote heart health. Though I used green bell peppers, you can use any other color. You will also need avocado oil, and creole seasoning alongside the main ingredients mentioned.
HOW TO AIR FRY SMOKED TURKEY SAUSAGES AND POTATOES:
Cooking turkey sausage in the air fryer is one of the easiest things to do in your air fryer. However, here is how I made these air-fried smoked turkey sausage and veggies.
- cut the vegetables.
Wash the vegetables and cut them as desired. Be sure to trim the asparagus to remove the fibrous part. Then, cut the asparagus into two or three.
Cut the sausage links as desired. Look at the photo below to see how I cut my potatoes, sausage, and asparagus. ⬇️ - season the ingredients.
I opted out for simple creole seasoning with this recipe. Remember, smoked turkey sausage comes ready and well-seasoned. Ensure to season potatoes and vegetables separately. First, sprinkle the potatoes with little oil, and mix. Then sprinkle the potatoes with creole seasoning; mix well to combine. Finally, season the asparagus, pepper, and onions together with oil and creole seasoning too; set them aside.
- air fry the potatoes, first.
First, set the air fryer to 375 degrees, set the time to 22 minutes, and preheat. Then, add the seasoned potatoes to the air fryer basket and air fry for 12 minutes or until they are almost tender.
- add asparagus, pepper and sausage.
Gently remove the air fryer basket, and flip the potatoes. Then add the seasoned bell peppers, onions, and asparagus. Finally, add the sausages and spread them out evenly. Then air fryer for 10 – 12 minutes.
- flip halfway and finish.
Ensure to flip/turn the air fryer basket halfway. Then taste the sausage and potatoes for flavors and adjust flavors if necessary! If you wish for the sausages and veggies to become tanner, then add additional 2 – 5 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
AIR FRYER TURKEY SAUSAGES VARIATIONS:
Use other vegetables of choice. Though I used potatoes, asparagus, onions, and bell peppers, you can always use the ones you prefer.
Swap smoked turkey sausage with smoked beef sausage. I love and adore turkey sausages; however, I know everyone may not share this perspective. So, feel free to use any type.
Bake in the oven if you do not have an air fryer yet. If you have a sheet pan, you can follow the instructions and bake this air fryer turkey sausage and potatoes in the oven. If baking in the oven, you may need to add additional time.
Make this recipe keto. Yes, you can easily make this meal keto by substituting the potatoes with cauliflower or broccoli. Alternatively, you can skip the potatoes entirely.
Use any color of bell peppers. This air fryer smoked turkey sausages, and potatoes will still taste perfect with any color of bell pepper. I used green bell pepper; however, any color would work just fine!
Use another spice or herb! Swap creole with Cajun or use any other spice of choice.
